Nothing in your life prepares
you for this; the stars, the murmuring sea, the soft
gentle giant straining in the sand to continue its multi-million
year voyage through time.
Sea turtles swim for
thousands and thousands of miles and return to the very
beach where they were born. Females are
30 years old when they first spawn. They are big,
well over a metre long. Maybe 40 or 50 years old.
They are cautious when they first approach a beach and begin their crawl. If there are lights or noise or people moving they don't come out of the water. However once a female begins laying her eggs she is in a trance, concentrating on
emptying 100 little round eggs into the sand
nest at the top of the beach.
You can take photographs without disturbing her.

The eggs hatch into the
cutest little turtles imaginable six weeks after they
are laid.
